Day Two

Queenstown really is a magical place...around every corner is a brand new view. Around every corner there is a brand new radio station too! On the same frequency it changed from GeorgeFM to Breeze to The Edge as I turned around different corners. I'm only using my trusty 1 gig iPod from now on - it has lasted me 4 years!

Today was one of those days that was so successful it was almost boring. I feel like I have to take a second to catch my breath every time I look around. Why am I not living here?? This place is magical! Everyone was so pleasant and accomodating and had a particular feel to them. Central Otago wineries have a particular feel to them, and attract a certain breed of person. Down to earth, hardy, helpful, encouraging, fun, outdoorsy, well rounded, foreign accented, amazing people. I want to be a part of this place.

I hit up 13 wineries today; I survived the drive to Chard Farm, I got to meet one of my best friend's awesome old boss at Waitiri Creek, I met the amazingly friendly Duncan from Mount Edwards, tasted some yummy Pinot Noir from Brennan's, trapped some winery workers at Gibbston Valley's amazing cave, and made a new friend at Olssens with the Hector dolphin's WWF coordinator who started the "dolphin wine" project to raise funds to save our native dolphin species! *GASP* ... not a boring day at all really! But all happy stories which make me feel all warm inside and make me realise that, despite my cracking voice, I love meeting and talking to new and exciting people.

There are so many of them out there to meet! Tonight I got carried away with talking to 3 60yos from Portland Oregon, who sailed from Mexico to Auckland in 6 months. They only started sailing in their mid 40s!! So there is PLENTY of hope for me yet... I feel so priveleged to have met them! Another treasure of an encounter to add to my list...

I'm exhausted... 9.15pm past my bedtime!
